  9. Charlotte, the largest city in my home state, North Carolina, just passed a city ordinance making it illegal to discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation. In reaction to this, the North Carolina legislature passed their own law, HB2, making it illegal for cities to ban discrimination against people based on their sexual orientation.
